We're retained to find an exceptional Country Manager for Securex, based in Uganda.

You will lead the Uganda business at a pivotal moment: strengthening day-to-day execution while helping an established leadership team build a more structured, accountable and performance-focused way of working.

This is a hands-on country leadership role for someone who can own the whole picture—not only operations, but also commercial performance, cost discipline, culture and stakeholder alignment.

About the Role

As Country Manager, you will be accountable for the Uganda operation and its overall performance. You will work closely with existing Heads of Department (HODs), creating clarity across functions and helping the leadership team turn priorities into consistent results.

Success will depend on how well you balance confidence with diplomacy. You will need to hold your own with experienced leaders, earn their respect and secure their buy-in—while still making the decisions and setting the standards the business needs.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Lead the operation

  • Take ownership of day-to-day business performance and ensure priorities translate into disciplined execution.
  • Create visibility across functions, surface operational risks early and keep teams focused on practical solutions.
  • Introduce clear operating rhythms, follow-through and accountability without adding unnecessary bureaucracy.

Own business performance

  • Take responsibility for the Uganda profit and loss (P&L) and understand the drivers behind performance.
  • Maintain a clear view of revenue, costs, profitability and the trade-offs behind key business decisions.
  • Use business and financial information to set priorities, challenge assumptions and improve outcomes.

Align the leadership team

  • Partner closely with current HODs and create shared ownership of country-level priorities.
  • Build credibility with leaders who understand the business deeply, while bringing an independent point of view.
  • Navigate disagreement constructively, secure buy-in and keep decisions moving forward.

Shape the next chapter of culture

  • Respect the strengths of the current culture while modelling the professionalism and accountability the business wants to build.
  • Bring fresh energy, structure and clarity in a way that people can understand and support.
  • Create an environment where expectations are clear, ownership is visible and teams can perform at their best.

How You Show Up

  • Grounded and confident: you can make your case with experienced leaders without needing to dominate the room.
  • Diplomatic and decisive: you listen carefully, bring people along and still act when a decision is required.
  • Commercially minded: you connect operational choices to revenue, cost, profitability and sustainable performance.
  • Structured and practical: you create clarity and accountability that help people work better—not process for its own sake.
  • Culturally aware: you recognise what should be preserved, what needs to change and how to pace that change responsibly.

Your Strong Foundation

Experience

  • You have country-level management experience or have led complex operations, a substantial business unit or a similarly broad area of responsibility.
  • You have worked across functions and influenced senior stakeholders who bring strong views and deep institutional knowledge.
  • You have improved performance by strengthening execution, accountability and collaboration.
  • Or—you may not have held any of those titles, but you have operated in high-stakes, high-velocity environments and can demonstrate comparable leadership scope.

Execution

  • You can move comfortably between the big picture and the operational detail needed to unblock progress.
  • You know how to establish priorities, assign ownership and follow through consistently.
  • You use evidence and sound judgement to make decisions, including when information is incomplete.

Commercial and financial understanding

  • You can read and discuss a P&L and understand the relationship between revenue, cost control and profitability.
  • You do not need to be a finance specialist, but you can ask the right questions and take accountability for business results.
  • You can translate financial performance into operational choices and clear actions for the team.

Communication

  • You communicate clearly with functional leaders, teams and senior stakeholders.
  • You can challenge respectfully, handle resistance and build commitment around a shared direction.
  • You are trusted to act with integrity and create confidence through consistency, transparency and follow-through.

This Role May Not Be for You If…

  • You prefer to lead from a distance rather than staying close to operational realities.
  • You rely on authority alone to influence experienced leaders or move change forward.
  • You are uncomfortable taking responsibility for P&L performance and commercial outcomes.
  • You introduce structure without first understanding the people, culture and business context.
  • You avoid difficult conversations or delay decisions to maintain short-term harmony.

Why Join

  • Lead an entire country operation and shape how the business performs, collaborates and grows.
  • Work with an established leadership team and build on strong existing business knowledge.
  • Influence both operating performance and the culture the organisation wants to create next.
  • Bring visible, practical change to a role where your leadership approach will matter every day.
